Fred Whittlesey is the Principal Consultant of Compensation Venture Group, SPC Fred is recognized by many corporations, major professional organizations, universities, media, and colleagues as a compensation expert and thought leader. His ideas have been presented in numerous books, journal articles, media interviews, conference and seminar presentations, and blog postings.

He founded Cannabis Compensation ConsultantsTM to devote resources to the diverse and high-growth cannabis sector as it unfurls in the US.

Fred is active in the cannabis business and professional communities as a consultant, investor, researcher, writer, and speaker.  Some recent activities include:

Fred is an Adjunct Professor in the Seattle Pacific University MBA program, teaching Total Reward Systems.  He has been an instructor for the UCLA Anderson Management Development for Entrepreneurs program on the topic of compensation strategy and design, a lecturer for the school’s joint MBA program with National Singapore University, and an instructor for UCLA Extension’s Financial Aspects of Human Resources Management. He has presented more than 50 seminars for chapters of The Executive Committee (TEC), a professional development group for entrepreneur CEOs, and was a WorldatWork certification course instructor for more than ten years teaching and developing the course content for Accounting and Finance, Executive Compensation, and Advanced Executive Compensation.

He is co-founder of Global Equity Organization (GEO), a founding member of the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals (NASPP), and past Chair of the Advisory Board of the Certified Equity Professional (CEP) Institute.

Fred received his MBA in HR and Marketing from UCLA. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude with a BA in industrial/organizational psychology from San Diego State University. He earned the Certified Equity Professional (CEP) designation from the CEP Institute at Santa Clara University, and the Certified Executive Compensation Professional (CECP) and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designations from WorldatWork.
